Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman has converted his 124-acre Mississippi ranch into a giant sanctuary for honeybees in an attempt to reverse the decreasing population of the insects. Forbes first reported that the beloved star brought 26 beehives into his ranch and has been planting bee-friendly trees to invite them into his house.

Freeman started his hobby as a beekeeper back in 2014 because he feels that we need to save the bees so our environment can stay healthy. He previously appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to explain that he doesn’t need protection from the bees and that they have never stung him.

Bees’ natural habitats are threatened by the use of pesticides as well as damage to their habitats by man and as a result, there has been a decline in the bees population with millions disappearing. It’s so inspirational seeing steps being taken to keep bees and as a result, humans on the planet!
