Life can become difficult as you get older, and knowing that you are cared for by your children is a real blessing. This caring son saw his parents struggling and needing assistance so instead of sending them to a nursing home or getting a caregiver, he decided to refurbish his basement for them.

The son fully refurbished the basement into a granny pad for his parents, Bonnie and George Miller, both 87, with all the amenities needed to make their lives better. Their daughter-in-law, Jeannie, was also fully involved in turning the place into a suite for them to live.

This way they will all share the same household in Bremen, Ohio and Schon and Jeannie will be able to care for the elderly couple daily while sharing the same household. “We had been talking about it with mum for a while because we knew they were leaning on each other with one good body and one good mind,” says Schon.

In the video you see the elderly couple walking into their new fully refurbished granny pod and breaking into tears as they are surprised by how great the place looks. It’s moments like these that make you realize that human beings are better when they care for each other and supporting your parents in their old age should be seen life’s greatest privilege.
